The Pousada Meu Sossego in the Press

Report about Barra grande in the Correio da Bahia on the               26th of September  2001 :

JORNAL - CORREIO DA BAHIA - CADERNO VIAJAR - 26/09/2001

Repose in calm waters | Barra Grande always awakened big passions

Simplicity with very much Charm.

The first thing on the arrival is to look for a Pousada. Forget the luxury, because most of the housings of the village, although with a certain comfort, are marked by simplicity. The same is to be said about the infrastructure for tourism, in the opposite to other places of the region, known as Costa de Dendê (Dende Coast) and which includes well known travel destinations like for example Morro de São Paulo, Valença, Boipeba and Guaibim. The fact that Barra Grande is little developed is its main difference.

The beaches are clean and free from environment-damages. This is practically impossible in destinations of higher frequency. Eco Tourists will be pleased to see the responsibility of the travelers and the natives, who worry to preserve the natural beauties of the place as much as possible. If your presence should not appear undesirable in the eyes of the sympathetic residents, avoid throwing whatever waste on the ground or the sand.

Have a look at the prices, too. Barra Grande is ideal for who cannot stay away from the delights of the sea. There it is possible to have a Moqueca (seafood dish with dendê-palmoil and coconut milk) with shrimps or lobster for, imagine, R$ 15,00. A portion with six Carangueijos (river-crab), big ones, to be mentioned, for approximately R$ 4.  Without to speak about the abundance in seafood, fish and mussels. A Mariscada, seafood - stew, for four persons costs approximately R$ 20,00. In the high-season, the prices become somewhat elevated, but never exaggerated high.
